Behind a cash register, Kattan does a physical bit involving a credit card and a telephone, knocking over things. The movie is an excuse for Ferrell and Kattan to work their comic magic. Doug (Kattan) and Steve (Ferrell) are Los Angeles guys who subscribe to a harsh, meat-market view of the world, even though by that standard they're pathetic losers. ![]() The picture, which opens today, is a feature-length version of Ferrell and Kattan's running bit on "Saturday Night Live" about two disco-going brothers who can't get into the glitzy Roxbury nightclub. Better we should broaden our aesthetic and praise the film for subtly letting us know that it's a comedy without resorting to anything as vulgar and obvious as a joke. One could criticize "A Night at the Roxbury" for being a comedy that provides not a single laugh. ![]()
